The Rowan University Percussion Ensemble will perform Mick Rossi’s brilliant score to accompany the 1939 silent film, Nosferatu, directed by F.W. Murnau. This is the original Dracula movie. Wear a Dracula costume and get in free. Tickets $5/$10. Rowan students/faculty free.
A long-time Rowan tradition: percussion “newbies” empty percussion storage room and then sweep and mop. Later we all clean instruments, lemon oil marimbas, tune drums, clean vibe and glock bars, laugh, eat pizza, etc. from l to r: Justina Addice, Alia Rabaia, Saro Mazzotta, Max Miller, Jake Koester, Ethan Scully, Eric Zielonka, and Alphonso Gonzalez.
Cadets 2 won first place at this year’s DCA finals and their percussion section won 1st place in their category with 3 Rowan percussion students: Tim Williams, vibraphone; Juan Nicdao, tenors; and Garrett Davis, marimba. Congratulations to them and all of the members of the Cadets 2 drum corp organization!!!!!!

Some very proud moments for Rowan percussion. On Monday, I attended the MM recital of John Vines who is now studying with Alan Abel, Chris Deviney and Phil O’Banion at Temple University. John played great! And last night, senior Stephen Fleming, performed the 3rd movement of the Kurka Marimba Concerto with the Rowan University Orchestra as a winner of this year’s concerto soloist competition. Stephen also played great. On that same concert, Dylan Cahill played timpani on Tchaikovsky Symphony #5 and played it like an old pro. I am very proud of all of them. ROWAN PERCUSSIONISTS ROCK ONI!!!!
I am very proud to announce that one of my seniors, Ryan Cullen, has been selected as a member of the World Percussion Group directed by Maraca2. It is an ensemble comprised of individuals from the USA, Canada, China, Denmark, Taiwan, Estonia, Italy, France, Luxembourg, Spain, Ukraine, Portugal, and Tenerife. This group is comprised of 19 individuals selected by blind audition. Only 5 players were selected from the United States. Stiff worldwide competition indeed!!!!!!
